ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a leading wholesale importer and distributor serving retailers, event professionals, party and floral businesses, and specialty stores across the U.S. and internationally, including a strong base of clients in Mexico. We're looking for an experienced inside sales representative who knows our industry, brings an established book of business, and can hit the ground running with existing customer relationships.
This is a role for someone who already understands wholesale distribution in our space - event decor, party supplies, artificial florals, balloons, candles, glassware, and related categories - and who can grow accounts from day one rather than learning the industry from scratch.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage and grow an existing book of business while developing new wholesale accounts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international customers, including clients in Mexico
- Proactively reach out to customers to drive sales, present new items, and manage assortment, pricing, and delivery
- Process and manage orders - analyzing back orders, ETAs, inventory levels, and pricing
- Develop quotes and proposals covering new products, restocks, promotions, and back-in-stock items
- Provide business reviews for key accounts to drive purchasing growth and retention
- Represent Portofino at industry trade shows throughout the year
- Resolve customer issues professionally and coordinate with purchasing, logistics, accounting, and marketing
- Document transactions accurately in our order management system
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- Wholesale sales experience in our industry - event, party, floral, decor, or closely related consumer product categories
- An established book of business you can bring and grow
- Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish - essential for our customer base
- Experience handling international clients, particularly in Mexico
- Willingness and ability to travel to trade shows (ASD Market Week, NY NOW, or similar)
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-resolution skills
- Comfortable with order management software and Microsoft Office
Preferred
- Experience with SalesPad, Microsoft GP, or a comparable ERP
- International logistics/import familiarity
- Trade show selling experience
