Shifts Available: Mid-Shift (11am-7pm)

Status: Full-Time / Hourly

Reports To: Route Dept Supervisor / Shift Production Manager

Job Overview

UMS is hiring versatile Driver / Mail Processors to join our team! This dual-role position combines route driving duties with shop-floor mail processing. You will be responsible for both the safe transport of mail between customers, UMS facilities, and the USPS, as well as pulling, sorting, and packaging mail on the production line.

We are looking for reliable team players who can navigate assigned routes safely, represent UMS with professional customer service, and thrive in a fast-paced sorting environment. You will report directly to your Route Department Supervisor/Manager, Shift Production Manager, or Department Supervisor ( directions may also be received from Facility Operations/GM or Corporate Management).

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Transportation

• Route Execution: Accurately navigate assigned routes to pick up mail from customers in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Complete routes efficiently to deliver mail safely to the local UMS facility or USPS.
• Vehicle Safety & Operations: Safely operate UMS vehicles (vans, trucks, box trucks) in all weather conditions. Adhere to all driver safety policies and report any vehicle maintenance issues immediately.
• Customer Representation: Serve as a daily point of contact for UMS clients. Deliver high-quality customer service and promptly report customer requests, concerns, or route issues back to facility management.

Mail Processing & Production Floor

• Sorting & Packaging: Pull mail off sorting machines, sweep, and package mail into designated bins and trays. Label containers accurately according to USPS guidelines.
• Material Handling: Load and unload mail trays, tubs, and pallets from UMS vehicles and USPS All-Purpose Carriers. Move full trays to designated shop floor areas.
• Adaptability & Line Support: Rotate across different workstations, machines, or routes as needed to maintain production flow and high plant efficiency.

Teamwork, Safety & Workplace Standards

• Policy Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to all company policies, including Attendance/Punctuality, Equal Employment Opportunity, Harassment, Drug & Alcohol, and Safety & Security.
• Communication & Problem Solving: Follow supervisor directions, troubleshoot basic operational issues, and escalate production or route problems to management when necessary.
• Work Environment: Keep vehicles and production work areas clean, orderly, and organized.

Physical Requirements & Qualifications

• Licensing: Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with a good Motor Vehicle Record.
• Lifting: Ability to repetitively lift containers weighing 20–25 lbs, with the physical capability to handle heavier volumes when loading and unloading trucks or box trucks.
• Stamina & Mobility: Ability to drive safely in all weather conditions, as well as stand, walk, twist, and turn along a production line for extended periods.
• Manual Dexterity: Good upper-body movement and dexterity to grasp, hold, and process mail rapidly.
• Key Skills: Strong work ethic, reliable attendance, ability to multitask, work independently or in a team, and adapt quickly when routines change.
