Optometrist

Palmetto Ophthalmology Associates is a growing private practice with three locations in the Midlands of South Carolina. Our team currently includes six ophthalmologists and one optometrist, providing excellent comprehensive medical and surgical eye care to our communities. We are seeking an additional licensed optometrist who aligns with our culture of ethical and patient-centered care. We stress quality patient care above all things. The position offers general optometry work, with a strong medical focus. 

Position Details

Responsibilities

• Perform routine eye examinations for refractive errors 
• Provide corrective glasses and contact lenses care
• Conduct comprehensive medical eye examinations, including evaluation and management of:
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Macular degeneration
• Manage post-operative cataract patients in coordination with ophthalmologists
• Co-manage patients with ophthalmology as appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
• Active (or eligible) South Carolina optometry license

• Comfort with routine and medically-focused optometry work

• Ability to follow and medically manage controlled glaucoma is a plus
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ethical standards
• Ability to work as part of a team is critical
