Position Summary

The Veterans Transition Center of California (VTC) is seeking a dependable, organized part-time Bookkeeper to support the organization’s financial and administrative operations. This position assists with routine bookkeeping, maintains financial records, and provides general accounting support.

The Bookkeeper will work with staff and leadership to help ensure financial information is accurate, organized, and maintained in a timely manner. Responsibilities may vary based on organizational needs.

Essential Functions

• Maintain financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with processing and tracking routine financial transactions.
• Support account reconciliations, financial reporting, and related accounting activities.
• Coordinate with staff and outside partners to gather information and address routine financial questions.
• Provide related administrative support and perform other duties as assigned.

All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with VTC’s policies and procedures, with appropriate care for confidential information.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field
• Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software and standard office applications, including QuickBooks, banking portals, third-party payment platforms, billing and invoice platforms, and Excel
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively 
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with others. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with a nonprofit organization
• Prior experience using the Melio and BILL platforms
