HR Engagement Specialist

The HR Engagement Specialist promotes employee engagement and belonging through departmental programming and administration of onboarding and retention programs. They provide direct customer service and operational support to ensure prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service to all customers. They also contribute to the smooth and employee-focused work of the People Operations team focused on time entry, absence management, benefits, payroll and maintaining accurate employee information in the HRIS tool (Oracle HCM).

This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $25.20 - $28.35 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

• Serve as point of first contact for the department, responding to inquiries from customers, and directing inquiries to the appropriate resources/channels.
• Administer the new employee onboarding process, orienting new employees to HR resources, and collecting HR paperwork and personal information in a timely manner.
• Lead the bi-weekly New Employee Orientation - with direction and support as needed from the People Experience team lead - from planning and communication, to facilitation and delivery of Oracle HCM training.
• Assist the People Operations Manager in ensuring employee inquiries/requests are attended to in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring the ticketing system, ensuring tickets are assigned, and following up about tickets needing attention.
• Coordinate employee engagement and professional development programs such as monthly employee events and the Rewards & Recognition program.
• Assist with mass communication of HR initiatives and regular campus wide processes such as bi-weekly payroll and annual tax forms.
• Support People Operations team on projects, including but not limited to process improvement and data clean-up.
• Maintain the HR website, ensuring key information is available to employees in a concise, organized and consistently branded format.

Requirements

• Associate's degree preferably in Human Resources, office management or related field.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex tasks and projects.
• Able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Able to project a warm, welcoming, and competent image to customers and meet all customers where they are in providing support.
• Experience working with cloud-based human capital management system(s) such as Oracle or Workday is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, team collaboration and database systems.
• Solid knowledge of general office procedures, equipment, etc.
• 2+ years of HRIS or payroll operations experience required, preferably in higher education.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
