Functional Area: CL - Claims. Responsibilities Handle all aspects of highest severity directors & officers (D&O) claims, including employment practices liability and fiduciary liability claims. Determine the scope and extent of available coverage. Investigate, evaluate, and dispose of new and existing D&O claims. Prepare and execute investigation strategies that identify critical issues affecting liability, causation, and damages. Assess risk transfer and contribution opportunities. Communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers, including insureds, brokers, and underwriters to guide and manage expectations. Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy. Present claim disposition recommendations to senior management. Obtain authority to negotiate multi‑million dollar claims independently with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide. Utilize ADR when appropriate. Strategize and budget litigation for each claim via discussions with counsel, vendors, and insureds. Establish clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to maintain financial control of budget and expenses. Travel approximately 10% of the time. Qualifications 10+ years of experience handling complex insurance claims, litigation or related experience; management liability experience highly preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; JD highly preferred. Multi‑state adjuster licenses preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong negotiation skills. Advanced experience in litigation claims management, ADR and mediation processes. Experience attending and controlling cases: pre‑suit, litigated, post‑trial, mediations and settlement conferences.
