Casual Specimen Processing Technician - Every Other Weekend - Midnight Shift

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus. In this role, you’ll perform essential pre- and post-analytical functions that help ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing. Schedule: Part-time Midnight shift Every other weekend 10:30pm - 7:00am 2-3 holidays per year As a Specimen Processing Technician, you will: Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens Print and accurately affix patient identification labels to incoming specimens Prioritize incoming work and ensure STAT specimens are promptly routed to the appropriate laboratory section Communicate specimen priorities to testing personnel to support established turnaround times Respond to inquiries from physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel Support the accurate and efficient flow of specimens throughout the laboratory Education/Experience requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Two years of applicable clinical experience working with specimens in a laboratory environment or equivalent college coursework in a healthcare or science-related field preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication and organizational skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Prior laboratory experience or equivalent science/healthcare coursework is required for consideration.
