Senior Sustainment Systems Engineer

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Sustainment Systems Engineer to support a Space Systems Command (SSC) Program Management Office (PMO) located at Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), CO. We conduct Operations & Sustainment (O&S) activities for state-of-the-art Military and Commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) systems, providing global secure, survivable and protected communications for our Nation’s warfighters.We are looking for an experienced, proactive Systems Engineer who is a self-starter capable of autonomous, on-the-job, learning/growth while working in a collaborative environment of small teams. The ideal candidate will employ their skills and experience to tackle technical challenges and drive executable solutions for legacy and transitioning strategic and tactical space-based telecommunication capabilities. This opportunity is an engineering management position where the ideal candidate will not only have the required technical acumen, but also the ability to proactively engage and effectively manage technical baselines using established/proven government systems engineering, integration & test (SEIT) processes and procedures to advance O&S activities for legacy and transitioning capabilities employed in the field. Join our high-functioning, high-performing MSEIT Sustainment Integrated Product Team (IPT) and be an important part of directly and positively affecting Joint and Allied combat readiness as they employ MILSATCOM and NC3 space systems, terminals and software applications worldwide during full spectrum military operations.The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Force’s Space Systems Command. We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.Key Responsibilities:Engage both government and corporate stakeholders to effectively produce outstanding resultsProvide senior-level critical thinking and problem solving skills to the government customer; drive technical challenges to their most logical resolutionCoordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry that translate to tangible, positive, mission-focused resultsLearn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activitiesDevelop, analyze and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readinessApply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systemsTravel: Up to 20% to CONUS and OCONUS locations upon government customer directionWork Environment:Location: On-siteTravel Requirements: MinimalWorking Hours: StandardQualifications:Required:Active DoW SECRET clearance required to be considered for this positionBachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university5 years experience in SE&I associated with system acquisitions and/or O&SExpertise with requirements development and analysis and the development of systems engineering-related documentsKnowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence)Solid analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective interpersonal and team-player skillsClear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skillsProficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)Preferred Skills and Experience:6+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes6+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systemsExperience working in a CMMI environmentPossess knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence)Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processesPossess Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Professional (PMP) certificationThis position is 100% onsite at Peterson Space Force Base's (PSFB), Product Support Facility (PSF) given mission requirements and is not eligible for formal hybrid or full remote employment options.Compensation: The pay range for this position in Colorado is $110,000/year to $138,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
