Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-20 week assignment available. Every other weekend required (5-6 weekend shifts per assignment). Manager-scheduled shifts with floating expectations.

Highlights:

• Neurology-focused Medical-Surgical unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• 24-hour unit orientation with 24-bed capacity
• EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
• General medicine patient population with primary focus on neurological diagnoses including cerebrovascular accidents (CVA)
• First-time travelers accepted; open to local candidates
• Contract lengths flexible between 13-20 weeks with up to 7 days pre-approved time off

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, IV starts and management, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Willingness to float to other units as needed (travelers float first)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Ability to complete 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

Preferred Qualifications:

• NIH Stroke Scale experience
• Previous neurology unit experience
• Charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the charge role
• EPIC charting system experience

• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• All lab testing must be completed within 48 hours after contract signing
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no time off requests during first week
• No additional time off requests accepted after contract signing
