Academy Sponsorship - Deputy Sheriff Recruit - $5,000.00 bonus

Program Summary We are inviting applicants to a limited number of paid sponsorships for a law enforcement academy hosted at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Training Range. Candidates who aspire to become a deputy sheriff and have an excellent work history are encouraged to apply. Upon successful completion of the academy, candidates will receive a one‑time $5,000 hiring/recruitment bonus and, after becoming a sworn officer, a full salary of $58,115.20. Eligibility and Requirements Applicants must meet the following criteria: Age 20 or older U.S. citizen Valid Class E Florida driver’s license High school diploma or GED No felony convictions Additional prerequisites include: Be immediately available to start processing when the online application is approved. Have the ability to commute daily to the academy according to the class schedule if selected. Complete and pass all portions of the agency background process prior to starting the academy. All selected candidates must also complete the state-required CJBAT for law enforcement. CJBAT can be taken at . CJBAT Exemption: As of July 1, 2022, candidates who hold an associate degree or higher, or who are veterans with an honorable discharge, are exempt from the CJBAT. Others must pass the CJBAT before attending the academy. Program Terms and Conditions The selected applicant must attend all classes and labs, pass the FDLE State Officer Certification Exam, and perform various duties during class recess. Upon approval for hire, the applicant will be under contract for three years. After graduation, the applicant may be appointed as a Deputy Sheriff and receive the annual salary of $58,115.20. When not actively enrolled in academy courses, trainees will perform office tasks, training exercises, observation events, and other assignments during or after business hours.
