Travel Registered Nurse – Post Surgical Care Unit (PSCU)

Location: Wausau, WI
Shift: 12-Hour Variable Days/Nights (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
Contract: 10 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Join a high-volume Post Surgical Care Unit providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from surgery. This assignment is ideal for experienced Med Surg travel nurses who excel in fast-paced environments and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for post-surgical adult and geriatric patients.
• Monitor patient recovery, perform assessments, administer medications, and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
• Prioritize patient needs in a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges.
• Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Rover medication scanning technology.
• Float to inpatient units within your skill set as needed.

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN License
• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical hospital experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required

Assignment Highlights

• 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• 10–15 admissions per day
• Average length of stay: 2–3 days
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:
  • Days: 1:4–5
  • Nights: 1:5–7
• Every other weekend and holiday
• Any scrub color permitted
• Eligible for up to 36 hours of low census during the contract
