Engineering Technician, Powertrain Systems

Expected compensation: 48.39 USD Per Hour HireArt is helping our client find an Engineering Technician, Powertrain Systems, to support high-voltage battery systems and powertrain development. In this role, you’ll support the design, testing, and servicing of power delivery systems, with a strong focus on high-voltage battery (HVB) assemblies and next-generation vehicle platforms. You’ll work hands‑on in both lab and production environments, contributing to R&D efforts and ensuring systems are built, tested, and maintained safely and effectively. The ideal candidate is a curious, hands‑on technician with strong electrical fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and the flexibility to adapt in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. As An Engineering Technician, Powertrain Systems, You’ll: Build, configure, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic test hardware at the component and subsystem level. Perform high- and low-voltage enable/disable procedures in accordance with safety protocols. Support high-voltage battery (HVB) servicing, testing, teardown, and analysis. Fabricate, repair, and update wire harnesses across various stages of vehicle development. Collaborate with engineers to develop and improve test systems and validation setups. Conduct root cause analysis on electrical and powertrain-related issues. Perform firmware updates on embedded systems in lab and field environments. Maintain lab readiness, including equipment calibration, inventory management, and workspace organization. Execute service and repair tasks safely and methodically once trained. Requirements An associate’s degree or trade certification in mechatronics, electronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience 4+ years of experience supporting EV powertrain systems, electrical systems, or wire harness development High- and low-voltage safety training with a strong understanding of electrical diagnostics Hands‑on experience with power electronics, soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication Ability to read and interpret schematics, harness drawings, and technical documentation Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and performing root cause analysis Proficiency with electrical test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, DAQ systems) Experience working with high-voltage EV components, batteries, and test systems Strong interest in electric and autonomous vehicle technologies Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately once per quarter) Bonus Qualifications Experience with manual fabrication tools and processes (e.g., milling, lathe, welding) Familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) Through‑hole and surface‑mount soldering and rework experience Exposure to EMI/EMC testing IPC/WHMA‑A-620 certification High‑voltage certification or advanced training Background in automotive or EV‑focused technical programs Benefits Pre‑tax commuter benefits Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service) Flexible Spending Account for healthcare‑related costs HireArt covers all costs for short and long‑term disability and life insurance 401k package This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt.
