GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works as part of the residential treatment team by providing individual, group and family therapy to youth in residential treatment care. Works closely with residential staff, treatment providers, case managers and court officials to prepare smooth transitions to the community once care is complete. Assists with discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care to clients and family members.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides weekly individual, group and family therapy in-person or virtually as appropriate.
• Develops, modify and monitors treatment plans.
• Works in conjunction with systems partners.
• Ensures timely completion of agency and program related documentation.
• Participates in weekly individual and group supervision with Clinical Director
• Attend relevant trainings, meetings, and staffing.
• Attend medication management appointments with youth in residential care.
• Support and assist the child and family treatment team with discharge planning.
• Adheres to St. Charles Youth & Family Services Policies and Procedures
• Interpret children’s code; reports state mandated issues regarding abuse.
• Supports the goals of the agency mission

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Masters degree in Social Work or related field; professional license preferred (APSW, LCSW, LPC, LPC-IT)
• Minimum of 3 years direct experience working with children and families
• Knowledge of crisis intervention, anger management and conflict resolution techniques.
• Ability to display cultural competence and sensitivity to the populations we service by responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, socioeconomic characteristics, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors.
• Ability to coordinate and conduct individual, family and group meetings.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency in formal report writing regarding recommendations and summaries.
• Knowledge of State of Wisconsin child abuse/neglect.
• Knowledge of DSM-IV.
• Knowledge and understanding of cross-cultural differences; with the ability to relate and communicate with persons from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to facilitate team process and task completion, to cooperate with other family preservation teams.
• Ability to manage physically aggressive clients.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and valid insurance required.
• Ability to use agency vehicles for work related duties according to the agency’s insurance liability standards.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Indoor/outdoor requirements
• Potential for physical intervention of clients as needed.
• Local and State travel as required fulfilling essential functions of the position.
