What We're Looking For The Registrar collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public. This role is in the Emergency Room Department. How You'll Contribute Ensure all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered accurately and timely into the registration system Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members Meet with patients or caregivers before or after admission to exchange information, explain processes, and address questions or concerns Communicate with physician offices, nursing units, and other staff to coordinate admissions and determine appropriate placement Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary. Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refer to financial counselors for follow-up. Required Skills Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and accuracy Computer skills Education High School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate degree preferred.
