Details Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units Teaching hospital setting with Level III NICU and Pediatric CVICU Patient ratio of 1:2 Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:00) available with rotating schedule 36 or 48 hours per week Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted) Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (pending acceptable) Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN Minimum 2 years PICU experience required Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations Prior float pool experience in NICU/PICU required for travel candidates Teaching hospital experience required Epic charting system experience required Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred BSN preferred Trauma Level I or II experience preferred Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred Previous charge experience preferred Additional Information Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team Must complete specialty-specific orientation modules Maximum 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance No RTO can be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience American Traveler Job ID P-742096.
