Qualifications:

• Valid Wisconsin teaching license at middle level
• Skilled in differentiation, assessment and data analysis
• Successful classroom teaching experience (minimum of three years' experience) at the elementary or middle school level.
• Advanced coursework in mathematics
• Proven instructional leadership ability and strong communication skills

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge Desired:

To support the mission of this district by working collaboratively with the building principal and district leadership on all aspects of literacy and math instruction/programming, providing training and support for all 5-8 teachers, and ensuring that all students learn at the highest level.


Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

• Actively serve on and participate in weekly School Intervention Team meetings.
• Work collaboratively with the School Intervention Team to analyze academic screening data and assist the Intervention Team at identifying and directing Tier 2 and 3 research-based intervention for students who qualify.
• Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations and participation in district or school sponsored in-services.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervising principal or district administration.

Instructional Coach

• Support and guide reading and mathematics teachers with best practice strategies that are proven to increase overall instructional effectiveness.
• Assist teacher teams and individual teachers with best-practice core instructional practices (Tier 1). Mentors and coaches' teachers for the purpose of improving core instruction.
• Assist teacher teams and individual teachers with best practices in Tier 2 intervention strategies. Mentors and coaches' teachers for the purpose of improving Tier 2 interventions.
• Assist teacher teams to define student academic concerns in clear, specific, and measurable terms.
• Assesses skills and needs (both initially and ongoing) of teachers for the purpose of recommending the kinds of professional development and learning strategies needed to bring about high levels of student achievement at the middle-level.

Reading / Mathematics Interventionist

• Collaborate with Site Intervention Team regarding the identification of Tier 3 students based on a pre-determined set of decision rules.
• Provides Tier 3 reading and mathematics interventions to students who meet a set of pre-determined decision rules.
• Selects interventions that are evidence-based' and address the students' academic deficits.
• Collects baseline data on student performance prior to the intervention, sets a predicted goal for student improvement to be attained by the intervention check-up date, and allots an adequate minimum period for the intervention(s).
• Collects regular progress-monitoring data during intervention(s) to determine if students are making adequate academic progress and completes required documentation of the intervention(s).
• Reports back to the Site Intervention Team monthly related to the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of the Tier 3 interventions being employed student by student, intervention by intervention.
• Applies decision rules' at the checkup date to evaluate whether the intervention(s) is/are successful and to determine the appropriate next steps.

Performance Evaluation: Performance of the Middle Level Math Interventionist/Instructional Coach will be evaluated by the Director of Learning or Designee annually according to school board evaluation policy and procedures.
