Apprentice Electrician

Job Description

This role focuses on wiring and assembling control panels used across the oil and gas industry, including applications from platforms to pipelines, primarily in a climate-controlled shop environment. After training, you may also support field installation of new equipment, contributing to the full lifecycle of control systems from build to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Wire and assemble electrical control panels according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read, interpret, and follow electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to complete panel assembly accurately.
• Use hand tools safely and effectively to cut, strip, terminate, and route wiring within control panels.
• Verify correct component placement, wiring connections, and labeling to ensure panels meet design and quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members in the shop to organize workstations, prioritize tasks, and meet production schedules.
• Assist with troubleshooting basic wiring or assembly issues during panel build and make necessary corrections.
• After training, travel to field sites as needed to help install new control panels and related equipment.
• Follow established procedures and best practices to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work area.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools used for electrical wiring and assembly.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical wiring practices and control panel assembly.
• Strong attention to detail when routing, terminating, and labeling wiring.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work from engineering documentation.
• Capability to work effectively in a shop environment on repetitive and detailed tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree in Process Technology is preferred.
• Knowledge or hands-on experience in electrical wiring is preferred.
• Interest in learning field installation of control equipment after initial training.
• Willingness to work both in a shop environment and occasionally in the field as needed.
• Ability to collaborate with a team and communicate clearly about technical tasks and issues.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a climate-controlled shop environment focused on building and assembling control panels. The role involves frequent use of standard hand tools for electrical wiring and assembly at a workstation or bench. Work is structured and detail-oriented, with tasks guided by electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. There are no specific certification, medical, or personal protective equipment requirements noted for this position. After training, you may spend some time in the field assisting with installation of new equipment, which can introduce more varied site conditions compared to the shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belle Chasse, LA.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Belle Chasse,LA.
