Dietary Services Manager - Full-Time Day/Evening

We are a leading provider of post‑acute care in the Midwest and are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team. Summary / Objective Responsible for the overall management of the Dietary Services department, following the resident care plan for nutritional meals according to physician orders, and supervising the dietary personnel to ensure federal and state regulatory compliance and adherence to center policies and procedures. Essential Functions Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, evaluate, discipline, and when necessary terminate departmental employees. Maintain working knowledge of budgeting and work within its confines. Monitor labor management and control, including staff schedules. Understand nutritional requirements for the resident population and menu options and availability. Interact with customers to ensure their satisfaction. Review and assure menus are served as written (regular and therapeutic) and that substitutions are made per policy with Registered Dietitian approval. Ensure foods are prepared according to production schedules, menus, and standardized recipes. Coordinate with RD to complete nutritional assessments on residents within required timeframes. Attend care plan meetings as per policy. Monitor weight gains/losses and coordinate concerns with RD/clinical team. Audit meal services to assure compliance with systems, policies and procedures, including: Mealtimes are posted and monitored for compliance. Planned menus, diets, and portion control are followed. The dining experience of residents is positive and hospitable. Staff are trained regularly on proper dining‑room service. Receiving and storage meet center and regulatory standards. Complete other audits as directed. Conduct in‑services for staff as indicated (e.g., cooks meetings). Ensure proper storage and handling of food in the center. Document training per policy and CMS/state regulation; complete training with all dietary staff upon hire and annually. Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, cooking, and transportation using HACCP guidelines. Comply with laws and regulations applicable to the position and act in accordance with the Center’s compliance program. Attend and participate in in‑service training, QAPI committees, and other meetings scheduled or directed. Adhere to safety and sanitation policy, including: Center rules, dress and hygiene policies. Proper equipment use and reporting of equipment needs or repairs. Center smoking policies and incident reporting. Reporting hazardous conditions and performing assigned transportation duties. Understanding and maintaining the disaster plan for the dietary department. Using required protective equipment and following infection‑control standards. Uphold resident rights: know, assist, report complaints, and maintain confidentiality. Protect HIPAA: follow Center policies, use minimal protected health information, and report suspected violations. Work Environment / Physical Requirements Responsibilities involve significant physical activity, including standing, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. High‑volume food preparation experience. Computer proficiency with Microsoft products. Meets CMS/State regulation for education and experience required for this position at all times. Preferred Education and Experience Experience in a fast‑paced environment. Associate’s degree in a related field. Experience in industrial food production. Post‑acute or health‑care experience. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; withstand rapid temperature changes; identify and use chemicals safely; communicate positively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and staff; hold a positive attitude toward long‑term care residents; meet all health requirements; taste and smell food to assess quality; handle and manipulate equipment during preparation and service; demonstrate basic computer knowledge and aptitude for learning company applications.
