Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a Level 1 Trauma Center adult ER position.

Details

• Level 1 Trauma Center serving adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient ratios of 1:25
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7a-7p, every other weekend
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Floating required within skillset
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Requirements

• RRT credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required, CRT not accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine required; license required if applicable, other state licenses accepted with 90-day temporary authorization while VA license is pending
• Critical care experience required to work in a high-volume ER, Level 1 Trauma Center including neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients
• Skilled in aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler administration of Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
• Competent in ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Skilled in airway management including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
• Proficient in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups including handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic devices

Additional Information

• Utilizes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200 equipment
• Facility follows a robust Assess and Treat protocol with ventilator management and liberation policy
• First-time travelers accepted; 1 year of travel experience preferred
• Local candidates not accepted; radius rule applies
• Teaching hospital with Level I Trauma Center designation for both adult and pediatric patients
• Magnet-designated for nursing excellence
