Foster Care Supervisor

The Village is accredited by the International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Adoptions, Foster Care, Mental Health, Wraparound, and Drop-In Center services. We deliver evidenced-based behavioral health services to children, youth and adults, and has long been at the forefront of culturally sensitive foster care and adoption services. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Foster Care Supervisor will assist the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration in the operation and management of the Foster Care Program according to agency purpose, philosophy, goals and objectives. The Foster Care Supervisor must be knowledgeable of foster care, and familiar with Title XXII regulations to ensure compliance with the applicable law and regulations of the client population served.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree is required, in Social Work or other fields approved by the State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Regulations. MFT and PsyD will also be considered. BBS Intern or license preferred Bilingual English/Spanish is a MUST Knowledge of foster care and familiarity with Title XXII regulations. Must possess valid California Driver's license and state required registration and insurance Two or more years of direct experience in Foster Care or related field. Strong leadership, communication, time management and organizational skills. Motivated and able to work as a part of a Team. Able to work effectively with others and manage personnel and program issues.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that staff complies with licensing regulations, mandated reporting requirements and Agency standards. Review all social workers supervisee's client files. Provide liaison services to county and state agencies, school personnel, clients and their relatives, foster parents and the community. Assist the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration in hiring, disciplinary and termination procedures. Prepare and conduct annual Performance Evaluations for direct reports. Organize and supervise weekly meetings with social workers to discuss clinical issues, plan events, promote teamwork, boost morale and collectively resolve treatment-related problems and concerns. Participate in initial training for new social workers, and plan on-going training for social workers and foster parents. Interview natural and foster families on a random basis to ensure client satisfaction and solicit feedback to enhance the Foster Care Program. Consult with the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration regarding sensitive political or public relation areas, personnel issues, foster parent problems, licensing issues, difficult client issues, or any other area that may require supervisor's assistance or approval. Communicate with the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration every day to exchange important information, provide assistance and guidance. In collaboration with the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration, organize and supervise weekly social worker meetings to discuss clinical issues, plan events, promote teamwork, boost morale and collectively resolve treatment-related problems and concerns. Participate in initial training for new social workers. Plan on-going training for social workers and foster parents in collaboration with the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration. Plan and participate in activities related to management team meetings. Attend and participate in monthly all-staff FFA meeting. Participate in weekly intake department meetings. Review and assist in making changes to the vacancy list and caseload distribution. Attend TDM with inexperienced workers or complicated cases. Review case files on a regular basis to ensure quality treatment services. Monitor and ensure FCSW's timely submission of paperwork and reports. Meet with social workers weekly for supervision, 1 hour per FCSW. Supervise between 4 and 6 social workers. Review and approve FCSW's mileage, timesheets, and reimbursement. Problem-solve issues with foster parents, social workers, and FCSWs. Provides follow-up on HR issues for supervisees: Vacation schedules Sick and late notification Office hours Performance evaluation Input on raises Participate in reviewing all reports of significant correspondence prior to mailing. Assist staff with writing, assessment, and treatment skills to eliminate errors and inconsistencies for quality assurance purposes. Provide crisis intervention and on-call backup for staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-AS NEEDED

Assists with intake calls. Meets with the Dir. of Foster Care & Adoptions Administration and Supervisors. Covers for any social worker and/or supervisor. Conducts home visits announced and unannounced. Attends job fair and participates in recruiting potential employees. Attends agency staff and management meetings. Runs and develops the agenda for FFA team meetings. Updates the caseload distribution weekly. Meets with Community Care Licensing and County officials. Performs any other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to be able to: Sit for periods up to one hour while driving to home visits. Climb flights of stairs to reach residence. Lift infants and toddlers weighing up to 40 pounds. Carry automobile child safety seats. Have sufficient vision to assess physical condition of clients and home environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to: Be exposed to hostile, emotionally disturbed or mentally ill persons and/or confrontational interpersonal situations. Work during non-routine hours, standby and/or callback. Work outside in all types of climatic conditions including inclement, very hot and/or cold weather.
