Plumbing & Mechanical Piping EstimatorA well-established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Mechanical Piping Estimator to join its Special Projects team. This role focuses on fast-paced commercial plumbing and mechanical piping work, ranging from service retrofits and repairs to fast-track and mid-sized construction projects.The ideal candidate has strong estimating experience within the mechanical trades, can take an opportunity from initial job walk through final proposal, and is comfortable working directly with general contractors, clients, vendors, and internal project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed estimates for commercial plumbing and mechanical piping projectsPerform material and labor takeoffs from plans, specifications, and field conditionsAttend job walks and evaluate existing conditions, project requirements, and potential risksDevelop conceptual budgets and estimates when complete construction documents are not availableReview drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to establish complete project scopesSolicit and evaluate vendor, equipment, and subcontractor pricingPrepare competitive proposals, scope letters, exclusions, and clarificationsEstimate service retrofits, repairs, renovations, and fast-track construction projectsPrepare change order estimates and pricing throughout project executionWork closely with project management and field teams during project turnoverMaintain relationships with general contractors, clients, vendors, and industry partnersSupport new business opportunities and help grow the Special Projects divisionManage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentRequirements5+ years of plumbing and/or mechanical piping estimating experienceStrong knowledge of commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systemsExperience estimating renovations, retrofits, special projects, or commercial construction preferredAbility to perform detailed labor and material takeoffsExperience with conceptual estimating and incomplete design documents preferredAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documentsExperience with Trimble AutoBid and Bluebeam preferredStrong understanding of material, equipment, subcontractor, and labor pricingComfortable attending job walks and interacting directly with clients and general contractorsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple bids and fast-moving project opportunitiesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement planPaid holidays and PTOLong-term career growth with an established mechanical contractorOpportunity to play a key role in a growing Special Projects division
