About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30 or 19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum two years in acute care within the last three years in the specialty required. License: RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Experience in CVICU required Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required Telemetry test required prior to clearance Description: The position involves day and night shifts, working 12 hours per shift. Scheduled shifts are from 07:00 to 19:30 or 19:00 to 07:30. Every other weekend and some holiday shifts are included, but there is no call required. Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas is preferred. Candidates must be able to work in a dynamic unit specializing in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients. Patient assignments will typically consist of 1-2 patients, with the possibility of 3 patients if acuity is low. The unit supports a range of specialized care including CABG, valve repairs, and various cardiac and thoracic interventions. The nursing team is composed of Charge RNs, Rapid Response Nurses, and RNs providing direct patient care. Nurses are encouraged to utilize technological expertise to meet patient and family needs. A telemetry exam must be passed successfully before starting the assignment. Staff may be required to float as needed. Candidates should be prepared for a mixture of planned and emergent procedures on the unit.
