Senior Solutions Engineer, Strategic (Northeast)

Overview Senior Solutions Engineer, Strategic (Northeast) As a senior member of Okta's Solutions Engineering team, you will advise a diverse set of customers on how Okta's Identity Platform can solve business needs. You will build sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical content for audiences ranging from developers to C-level executives, and you will lead technical discussions to identify customer requirements and craft solutions that leverage cloud security technology. Responsibilities Collaborate with account executives to develop and execute territory and account strategies to maximize the Okta opportunity in those accounts Conduct research and discovery to understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using cloud technology Deliver POCs for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed Craft technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or standard methodologies for new technologies Prepare and deliver demos to showcase how the Okta platform meets customer business needs and use cases Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales Required Skills / Qualifications 5+ years pre-sales engineering experience A passion to serve the customer, demonstrated in customer-facing roles (e.g., consulting or support), ideally in solutions engineering Ability to quickly and effectively communicate complex technical concepts via presentations, slides and whiteboard Strong Understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP Lifecycle management, RBAC, and provisioning/deprovisioning Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and core security concerns within typical applications (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF) Hands-on experience in web/mobile/backend development or IP-based real-time communications is a plus Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP Elite communication skills and ability to identify, map, and manage multiple personas (IT admins, CISOs, architects, procurement, legal) Typically 10-25% travel Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred In-person onboarding and travel to San Francisco, CA HQ during the first week of employment Compensation and Benefits The OTE range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $215,000—$323,000 USD Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
