RN - MedSurg


Job Details:


• 8-week contract with an ASAP start date
• 12-hour day/night variable shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week (except during orientation week and holidays when unit is closed)
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours - can be low censused in hourly increments, typically in 4-hour increments
• Work in a 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit providing care for pre and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients following PACU recovery
• Fast-paced unit averaging 10-15 admissions per day with 90-95% occupancy during the week and an average length of stay of 2-3 days
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 or 1:5 on day/PM shifts, 1:5-7 on nights
• Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize patient care needs based on acuity, and work as a team
• Minimum 2+ years of Med Surg experience required with recent hospital experience
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Equipment used: Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, Alaris pumps
• Required certifications: WI RN License and BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Aspirus Wausau

This is a large inpatient hospital facility featuring a dedicated 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit that provides comprehensive care along a continuum for pre and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients. The facility operates at a high occupancy rate and supports Trauma Level II care, offering a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork and quality patient outcomes. The hospital provides 24/7 clinical interview services and maintains high standards for staffing and patient care.
