Position Overview

The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic and hands-on HR partner responsible for leading talent acquisition efforts, supporting compliance with Canadian employment laws and regulations, providing backup support for payroll administration, and assisting with recruiting in a growth environment. This role supports the full employee lifecycle while ensuring HR programs, policies, and practices align with business objectives and legal requirements across North America. The ideal candidate is a highly organized HR professional with strong recruiting expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

HR Compliance & Employee Relations

• Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian federal and provincial employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
• Partner with leadership on employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and policy interpretation.
• Assist in maintaining employee handbooks, policies, and compliance documentation.
• Support compliance initiatives related to employment standards, leaves of absence, accommodation requests, human rights legislation, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Monitor legislative changes and recommend policy or process updates as needed.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

• Lead full-cycle recruitment for salaried and hourly positions across multiple functions and locations.
• Partner with hiring managers to develop recruiting strategies, job descriptions, interview processes, and candidate selection criteria.
• Source, screen, interview, and recommend qualified candidates.
• Manage relationships with recruiting agencies, job boards, and other talent sourcing partners.
• Monitor recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, candidate pipeline activity, and quality of hire.
• Support employer branding initiatives and candidate experience programs.
• Maintain documentation related to recruiting and hiring.

Employee Lifecycle Management

• Facilitate onboarding and orientation programs.
• Support performance management and talent review processes.
• Assist managers with employee development and succession planning activities.
• Maintain employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.

Payroll Support

• Serve as backup to the Payroll Specialist and support payroll processing activities as needed.
• Assist with payroll audits, data validation, employee record maintenance, and reconciliation activities.
• Assist with payroll when the Payroll Specialist is unavailable.

Training & Learning Development

• Coordinate employee training programs and compliance-related training initiatives.
• Assist with the development and delivery of learning and development programs.
• Track training participation and effectiveness metrics.
• Support leadership development and employee growth initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent field.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ progressive Human Resources experience, including significant experience managing full-cycle recruitment.
• Working knowledge of Canadian employment laws and HR practices.
• Experience with evaluating and analyzing data and statistics for KPI development.
• Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP designations, preferred.

Work Environment

• Indoors, in an office environment, with temperature control.
• No adverse environmental conditions expected.
• 0-5% travel

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Salary Description

$80,000 - $95,000 annually, bonus eligible
