Research Technician 3- Immunology and Rheumatology

Job Overview Assist and support scientific investigation to study autoimmune disease as directed in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Immunology; Independently conduct assigned experiments Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis Sort and process tissue and blood samples Test and evaluate current procedures Perform routine procedures on lab animals Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results Assist in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts Prepare research progress reports Assist principal investigator with preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts Conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation Set up and operate laboratory equipment Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiate procurement requests as needed Perform additional duties as assigned b>Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
