Construction Coordinator

Principal Duties


• The Construction Coordinator supervises contractors by helping to schedule, organize preliminary work schedules; on-site ritually and routinely inspecting traffic control elements, modifying and teaching when necessary.


• Assist in training to evaluate, select, place, and maintain traffic control devices.


Responsibilities


• Learn and understand the duties and responsibilities defined in NYSDOT 619 Standard Specifications and Highway Work permitting


• Situational awareness when SLIC and contractors work in proximity to traffic, especially in NYSDOT Right of Way, including the use of primary and secondary spotters on the ground in the work zone.


• Immediately address any shortcomings and incidents that occur within the work zone. Activities may include modifications to temporary traffic control, documenting incidents, providing a temporary spotter to protect the incident or suspending the work until the incident or failure to meet NYS 619 standards can be managed and or corrected.


• Oversee and train people that evaluate, select, place, and maintain traffic control devices.


• Keep the public well informed.


• Help educate SLIC Fiber Outside Plant Technicians responsible for NYSDOT ROW work zone compliance and safety. Achieve ATSSA (American Traffic Safety Services Association Flagger Certification) within a reasonable timeframe of hiring.


• Exhibit commitment and dedication to standards set forth by MUTCD and NYSDOT Supplemental Sections on Work Zone Traffic Control.


• Maintain Hard copy permits and plans to be kept on site, access digital copies.


• Pre-construction meetings and/or telecommunications with all contractors and NYSDOT prior to work beginning to share ideas on how and when work will occur, align site plans, scope, and sequence across all necessary parties and the public.


Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Experience working in a team environment


• Strong communication skills


• Must possess a Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record


Salary Description


$18.00 -$23.00 per hour based on experience
