Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit (Nights)

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Nights; 18:45 - 07:15. The unit may offer 36 or 48 hours per week and requests for block scheduling will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Job Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a surgical unit, focusing on patient care for various surgeries including colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, orthopedics, urology, and vascular procedures. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care for surgical patients and administer medications as per protocol.
• Monitor patient vital signs and interpret telemetry readings.
• Ensure effective communication through SBAR and documentation in Epic.
• Assist with surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams and pharmacy.
• Adhere to patient safety and isolation protocols.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and call-off regulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in a surgical or telemetry setting.
• Current BLS certification is required. ACLS and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
• Nursing license in North Carolina or Compact license required.
• Prior experience in managing post-operative care is highly desirable.
