Clinical Nurse Coordinator Medical Renal

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Medical Renal at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Texas is a frontline clinical and leadership role within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Registered Nurse, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and renal conditions, including acute and chronic kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, and multi-system comorbidities. Working closely with nephrologists, hospitalists, and an interdisciplinary team, you will oversee daily patient flow on the unit, prioritize admissions, discharges, and transfers, and ensure that individualized care plans are implemented and updated based on patient needs and response to treatment.

You will serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff, providing real-time coaching on assessment, medication administration, dialysis coordination, fluid and electrolyte management, and the use of specialized equipment. The role includes precepting new nurses, supporting ongoing skills development, and helping to foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and compassionate care aligned with the organization’s community-focused mission. You will assist in staffing coordination, delegate assignments based on patient acuity and staff competencies, and help manage unit throughput to support safe workloads and timely care delivery.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will be actively engaged in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring core clinical indicators, supporting evidence-based protocols for renal and complex medical patients, participating in root cause analyses, and helping to implement process improvements that enhance patient outcomes and experiences. You will ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention standards, support accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, and promote effective communication with patients, families, and the broader care team.
