Weekend Receptionist

Are you looking for a long-term volunteer opportunity? If you answered YES to all of these questions, you may be just the volunteer we are looking for.

The Weekend Receptionist is an important part of the operation of Seven Ponds Nature Center. This person helps create a positive first impression for weekend visitors and callers to the nature center and gets people off to a good start as they begin their nature center experience. The Weekend Receptionist must be someone who is personable and enjoys working with and talking to people. This person reports to the Executive Director of the nature center and operates within guidelines established by the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. The Weekend Receptionist works as a team with nature center staff and other volunteers and presents a good image through both action and appearance.

The Weekend Receptionist is a volunteer opportunity with days and hours on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 AM and 5 PM. The duties of the Weekend Receptionist include:

• Greet visitors, providing trail maps and brochures and collecting admission, membership and program fees
• Provide information about Seven Ponds, including the nature center's purpose, programming, attractions, and membership benefits
• Answer the telephone, providing information directly or passing the caller on to an appropriate Seven Ponds staff member
• Make gift shop sales, following all established nature center procedures
• Record information on individual and group use of the nature center on weekends
• Possibly help staff with set-up and clean up of activities which occur on weekends
• Perform light housekeeping duties as needed which could include vacuuming, restroom maintenance and kitchen clean up

All of the above duties are subject to change or modification at the discretion of the Executive Director. As a volunteer of Seven Ponds Nature Center, the Weekend Receptionist shall perform all duties in such manner as to bring credit to the nature center.
