Clinical Assistant – General Dermatology Clinic

Medical Assistant or LPN

Dermatology Associates of West Michigan is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Clinical Assistant to support our general dermatology providers in a busy outpatient clinic setting. This position is open to Certified Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses who enjoy hands-on patient care, provider support, and working as part of a team.

This role is focused on the day-to-day flow of a general dermatology clinic. Clinical Assistants help room patients, gather medical information, support providers during visits, assist with in-office dermatology procedures, and help patients understand their care plan.

The ideal candidate is organized, friendly, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic, and able to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for dermatology visits.
• Review and document medical history, medications, allergies, and visit concerns in the electronic medical record.
• Assist providers during general dermatology exams and in-office procedures.
• Prepare exam rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for patient visits.
• Support provider documentation, including scribing when needed.
• Assist with biopsies, injections, treatments, and other common dermatology procedures as directed by the provider.
• Prepare, label, and process lab or pathology specimens according to office procedures.
• Communicate patient instructions related to medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and biopsy or pathology results.
• Schedule follow-up appointments, procedures, or treatments as needed.
• Communicate with patients by phone and through the patient portal.
• Help maintain patient flow throughout the clinic day.
• Stock exam rooms and help keep clinical areas clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Participate in team training, staff meetings, and clinic workflow improvements.
• Follow all HIPAA, infection control, safety, and office policies.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification required for Medical Assistant candidates.
• Current Michigan LPN license required for LPN candidates.
• Basic Life Support certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Strong communication and patient service skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinic environment.
• High attention to detail with documentation and patient care.
• Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented.
• Comfortable using or learning an electronic medical record system.

Preferred Experience

Dermatology experience.

Outpatient clinic experience.

Experience assisting with biopsies, injections, or minor procedures.

Schedule

Full-time or part-time availability may be considered.

Monday through Friday, daytime hours.

No nights, weekends, or holidays.
