Nursing Director — Emergency Department

Location: York County area, South Carolina | Type: Full-Time | Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

The Opportunity

An acute care hospital in the York County area of South Carolina is building out its ED leadership, and this Director role sits at the center of that work. You would carry full administrative responsibility for the Emergency Department — budget authority, program development, quality oversight, and direct leadership of Nurse Managers and department staff.

The base salary ranges up to $185,000, with a $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available for the right candidate. This is a director-level seat with real scope: you shape how care is delivered, how the team grows, and how the department performs against the hospital's strategic plan.

The Role

You will direct the daily operations and long-term development of the Emergency Department, working alongside medical staff and hospital administration to align department performance with organizational goals. Specific areas of accountability include:

- Overseeing fiscal management across capital, revenue, expense, and staffing budgets for assigned cost centers
- Developing and executing quality monitoring programs and process improvement initiatives
- Leading, coaching, and developing Nurse Managers and department staff
- Ensuring compliance with JCAHO, DHEC, and South Carolina Board of Nursing standards
- Participating in community-facing program development to meet the evolving needs of the region
- Supporting organizational change initiatives by helping staff understand strategic objectives and the healthcare environment

What You Bring

**Required:**
- Active, valid Permanent Multi-State RN License from the state in which you reside (compact state RN license holders must obtain a Multi-State license within 30 days of hire)
- 3–5 years of acute care experience, including at least 2 years in Emergency Department or emergency services
- Management experience in a nursing or clinical leadership capacity
- American Heart Association BLS CPR and CPI certifications

**Education:**
- Master's degree in Nursing or Business Administration required (or completion within 5 years of hire)
