Quality Technician

Location: Aurora Il

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 6AM - 2:30PM

Compensation: $22 / hour

Role Type: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Company Overview

Medix is working with a contract manufacturer specializing in the blending, processing, and packaging of powdered food products, nutritional supplements, and functional ingredients for other brands.

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Technician supports food safety, quality, and GMP compliance throughout a food manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, floor-based Quality role focused on monitoring production activities, conducting line and food safety checks, verifying documentation, and identifying issues that could affect product quality or compliance.

The technician will work closely with production, sanitation, and Quality leadership to help ensure products are manufactured according to established specifications, SOPs, customer requirements, and applicable state and federal food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine in-process quality and food safety checks on assigned production lines, including verifying products are being produced, packaged, and documented according to approved specifications.
• Conduct line audits throughout production to confirm compliance with GMPs, food safety requirements, labeling, packaging, lot control, cleanliness, and product specifications.
• Support quality oversight of batching and blending operations by reviewing production activities and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with GMP audits and pre-operational checks to ensure an effective transition from sanitation activities into production.
• Complete and maintain required Quality records, audit forms, inspection logs, and other production documentation accurately and in real time.
• Assist with the site's Environmental Monitoring Program , including performing or supporting environmental swabbing procedures as assigned.
• Identify, document, and communicate quality discrepancies, GMP violations, food safety concerns, or other nonconformances to supervisors and Quality leadership for resolution.
• Help reinforce compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and site quality policies.
• Support Quality Management during customer visits, third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and internal audits by retrieving records, locating documentation, and coordinating requested information.
• Educate and engage employees on GMP expectations, food safety programs, sanitation practices, and Quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work area while following all required safety and PPE procedures.
• Perform other Quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in food manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, GMP manufacturing, or a related regulated environment preferred.
• Understanding of food safety, GMP, sanitation, documentation practices, and production quality checks is preferred.
• Experience with environmental monitoring or swabbing is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete documentation and recognize potential quality issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and Quality teams.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, preferred.
