Position Details Position: Peer Support Specialist I Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt Shift: Rotating schedule (every other weekend off) – Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM Location: Crisis - Franklin County Crisis Care Center, Columbus, Ohio Salary: $19.00 per hour Specialties / Licenses or Certifications: Valid Peer Support Certification; Paid Peer Training available Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guest Care & Advocacy: Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking. Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools. Models hope, personal responsibility, and self‑advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained. Assists in developing natural supports and community living. Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose). Compliance & Risk Management: Completes clinical documentation as required. Stays up to date on all federal and state regulations, laws, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures. Adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as set forth in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals. Additional Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Education / Licenses: Successful completion of Peer Employment Training and certification as a Peer Support Specialist (required). High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services. Skills: Basic computer skills. Ability to teach/training recovery information and tools. Effective communication skills. Must be able to pass state‑defined de‑escalation training. Driving Requirements: If driving is required, must meet all Recovery Innovations driving policy requirements. If not qualified to drive, a Non‑Driver Attestation form must be signed. Miscellaneous Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old (unless state regulations specify otherwise). Travel based on business need. Maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism. Second‑Chance Employer: Must pass a seven‑year background check, substance abuse testing (if applicable), TB testing (if applicable), fingerprint clearance where required, education verification, and motor‑vehicle report if driving is required. Physical Demands May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye‑hand‑foot coordination; use of corrected visual and auditory senses. May require lifting up to 20 pounds. Work Environment Possible office environment or behavioral health facility. May encounter individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Warmline over‑the‑phone Peer Support Specialist will work remotely and not be in an office or behavioral health facility. State‑Specific Eligibility Addendums Arizona: Must be 21 years or older. Louisiana: Must be 24 years or older. Ohio: Proof of active Peer Support Certification is required. Washington: Additional state registration for Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) may be required.
