One of our clients in Dahlgren, VA, needs a Junior System Administrator for a contract position.Responsibilities:The Junior Systems Administrator supports the daily operation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s hybrid IT infrastructure, including on-premises Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 GCC cloud services, virtualization platforms, and compliance-driven systems.This role assists with user administration, endpoint management, system monitoring, and cybersecurity compliance initiatives while developing the technical skills required to progress into a Systems Administrator position.User & Identity AdministrationProvision, modify, and deprovision user accounts in Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 GCCManage group memberships, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and licensing assignmentsSupport password resets, MFA troubleshooting, and Conditional Access–related sign-in issuesAssist with hybrid identity synchronization and troubleshooting (Entra Connect / Cloud Sync)Endpoint & Device ManagementDeploy, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 workstations and laptopsAssist with Intune enrollment, compliance policies, and Defender for Endpoint onboardingSupport patching, antivirus/EDR health, BitLocker, and device security configurationTroubleshoot hardware, drivers, printers, and peripheral connectivityServer & Infrastructure SupportProvide operational support for Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 systemsAssist with VMware virtualization, storage, and basic networking tasksSupport file shares, permissions, DFS, and legacy on-prem services during cloud migrationMonitor system health, services, backups, and event logsMicrosoft 365 & Cloud ServicesSupport Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and TeamsAssist with mailbox management, permissions, and basic mail flow troubleshootingHelp maintain SharePoint libraries, lists, and internal IT knowledge base contentParticipate in ongoing migration of on-prem services to Microsoft 365 GCCCybersecurity & ComplianceAssist with STIG remediation, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening tasksSupport RMF / CMMC compliance activities, documentation, and artifact collectionHelp monitor alerts from Defender, Tenable/ACAS, or similar security platformsFollow least-privilege and secure handling procedures for sensitive environmentsOperational SupportRespond to IT service requests and incidents in a timely, professional mannerDocument troubleshooting steps, procedures, and system configurationsAssist with onboarding/offboarding processes and equipment preparationCoordinate with vendors and internal leadership as directedRequired Qualifications1–3 years of IT support, helpdesk, or junior system administration experience OR bachelor’s degreeWorking knowledge of Windows 10/11, basic Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration fundamentals, and basic networking conceptsAbility to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and document findingsStrong communication and customer service skillsU.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a government clearance (if applicable)Preferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, or Entra IDFamiliarity with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V)Exposure to STIGs, RMF, NIST 800-171, or CMMC compliance environmentsPowerShell scripting or automation experienceRelevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft certificationsIf you are interested in this position, please send a copy of your latest resume to View email address on click.appcast.io with the information requested below:Availability to start a new jobBest RatesContact #Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any question(s) you may have.
