RESPONSIBILITIES

The full‑time Physical Therapist Assistant will be responsible for performing physical therapy treatments, administering care programs, monitoring patient progress, and modifying treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist. The role includes quality improvement and interdisciplinary collaboration. Assist patients with active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and modality treatments (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, hot and cold packs). Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily‑living activities. Observe patients during treatments, monitor and compile progress, and communicate results to the Physical Therapist. Fit patients for, adjust, and train them in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs). Consult with physical therapy staff and other health team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Facilitate orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and provide instructions to Physical Therapy Aides. Perform clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms. Measure patients’ range‑of‑motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations. Monitor treatments administered by Physical Therapy Aides. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree. BLS certification. Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license from NJ. Minimum one (1) year of experience as a PTA is strongly preferred.
