Special Needs Child Care Worker

Overview White Bear Lake Area Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Child Care Assistant to support students with special needs enrolled in Extended Day Programs, which operate before and after school on weekdays from September through June. These programs provide enriching opportunities that celebrate youth with diverse interests, talents, and perspectives. Responsibilities Provide direct support to students with special needs during program activities in individual, small group, or large group settings. Foster student engagement by modeling and encouraging appropriate behavior, communication, and participation. Assist with adapting activities and environments to meet individual student needs. Collaborate with staff to implement behavior support strategies and ensure student safety. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate observations to the Site Supervisor as needed. Attend all required training and staff meetings to maintain compliance and support professional growth. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Moderate experience working with children. Hold an AA/AS degree, OR have completed 60 semester credits, OR have an approved competency portfolio, OR have passed the MN Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro Test). Successful completion of background check. Salary and Benefits Starting at $22.91/hour. On-the-job, paid training for first aid, CPR, child development and working with special needs children. Ongoing staff development. Strong team environment. Location & Shift Times Shift times - 2:00-5:30 PM; hours may vary based on site needs and staff availability.
