Job Title: Stepdown/MedSurg Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Experience with med-surg populations, including chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and abdominal pain. - Ability to titrate drips in a stepdown setting. - Competency in reading telemetry strips with the assistance of telemetry monitor technicians. Description: This position requires a registered nurse to work in a stepdown and med-surg setting. The unit consists of a total of 32 beds, with 12 designated for stepdown care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for stepdown and 1:4-6 for med-surg patients. Nurses will work 12-hour night shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. The unit handles a variety of common diagnoses and illnesses. Patients include those requiring med-surg care and overflow for hospice services. Nurses should be proficient in administering medications and managing patient care effectively. There is a charge nurse and house supervisor available on the unit. Nurses may be floated to other floors or stepdown units as needed. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. The electronic charting system used is EPIC. This role plays a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care in an acute setting.
