Technical Writer

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer III to support a major application modernization initiative involving the rewrite of a legacy .NET application. This individual will serve as the primary owner for technical documentation, business process documentation, workflows, user guides, and release materials while partnering closely with development, QA, business, and project teams. The ideal candidate has experience supporting software development organizations and possesses a strong background documenting application architecture, system processes, and modernization efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, API documentation, and data dictionaries.
- Develop Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and system configuration documentation.
- Document current and future state workflows, including intake processes, billing flows, and system integrations.
- Develop user guides, SOPs, Quick Start Guides, and training materials.
- Maintain documentation repositories, templates, and standards.
- Collaborate with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and project leadership.
- Track documentation requests, risks, issues, and action items.
- Support release documentation and ensure compliance with organizational governance standards.
- 5+ years of technical writing experience supporting software development projects.
- Experience documenting enterprise applications and business processes.
- Experience with application modernization, legacy migrations, or refactoring initiatives.
- Experience creating architecture diagrams, workflows, ERDs, and API documentation.
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Experience supporting .NET application environments.
- Government or public sector experience.
- Experience using documentation management and version control tools.
- Familiarity with Agile project environments.
- Experience developing training materials for end users and administrators.
