Sales Account Executive, Midwest USA and Canada

Job Purpose Represents Progress Rail in contacting customers within a defined territory regarding products and services. Responsible for managing railroad, contractor transit, and industrial accounts. Represents the company in the marketing of the entire catalog of infrastructure and/or rolling stock products. Work Location Location Options: Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas/Fort Worth, Minneapolis, Phoenix. Primary city: Kansas City. Key Job Elements Conduct product presentations to customers with technical support. Act as liaison between the company’s operations, accounting, engineering, and other departments, and request assistance with customers within the coverage area. Develop and implement effective sales strategies for new and existing customer accounts. Provide marketing intelligence for current sales and future growth. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to understand and anticipate their needs. Provide weekly sales updates, including tracking of all opportunities. Travel to customer sites. Participate in trade shows. Support post‑sales activities, including product delivery, customer follow‑up, and accounts receivable collection. Create and present quotations and proposals to customers. Aggressively follow up on open quotes and work to close business opportunities. Utilize the Salesforce platform to create quotations, enter weekly call reports, and manage customer accounts. Negotiate contracts with the assistance of the legal and compliance departments. Perform additional job‑related duties as assigned. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent; MBA preferred. Qualifications and Experience 3+ years of experience in an industrial sales setting, with railroad industry experience preferred; experience with commercial sales and service; selling railcar/locomotive aftermarket parts and repair services. Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing market conditions. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. High level of creativity and analytical ability to assess, identify, and facilitate alternate courses of action to mitigate project risk. Working knowledge of internal departments and relationships. Assertive leadership for directing sales efforts and support requirements. Well‑developed oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of PC applications – Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint. Significant domestic travel required (50+ percent). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
