As an Occupational Therapist in our Acute Care setting, you will work closely with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop personalized treatment plans that support recovery and promote functional success. Overview Occupational Therapist, Acute Care Make a Difference Every Day At WakeMed, our Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life during their hospital stay. As an Occupational Therapist in our Acute Care setting, you will work closely with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop personalized treatment plans that support recovery and promote functional success. What You'll Do Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans with meaningful, functional goals. Provide occupational therapy interventions that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, activity programs, and strategies to support recovery. Design and fit orthotic devices when appropriate and train patients in their use. Recommend and educate patients on adaptive equipment to enhance safety and independence. Monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed. Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care in accordance with department standards and best practices. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care. Support patient care needs across various areas of the WakeMed Rehabilitation continuum when required. What We're Looking For A compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping patients achieve their highest level of independence. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment while providing outstanding patient-centered care.
