Student Sonographer
The student sonographer aids in noninvasive cardiac and vascular testing under the direct supervision of a staff sonographer. This individual complies with the department policy and procedures. This individual is enrolled in a cardiovascular ultrasound program. The position includes direct patient care, access to confidential patient and organizational information.
Essential Duties:
- Assists staff sonographer in performing noninvasive vascular and cardiac testing according to protocols which include carotid ultrasound, PVR, segmental pressures, TEE, resting echoes, stress echoes (dobutamine and treadmill), venous and arterial ultrasound.
- Stock patient care supplies.
- Report transmission and communication as assigned by staff sonographer.
- Maintains accurate patient files.
- Maintains equipment and clean work area.
- Assist staff sonographer with completing required computer work and paperwork.

Qualifications:
- One of the following qualification pathways:
- Level 1:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 2nd year student from an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound program.
- Current American Heart Association -CPR Health Care Provider.
- Attention to detail.
- Level 2:
- Bachelor's degree in any major.
- Bridge Program participant.
- Current American Heart Association -CPR Health Care Provider.
- Attention to detail.
- Level 3:
- Associates degree in a health science field (i.e., cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing.
- Bridge Program participant.
- Current American Heart Association -CPR Health Care Provider.
- Attention to detail.
