This responsibility includes everything in the manufacturing value-chain, including, but not limited to, Design for Manufacturability work, tool design & selection, process creation & optimization, vendor sourcing & interaction, quality planning, and work documentation associated with the hardware that the Manufacturing Engineer owns.ABOUT THE JOBAs a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that we are testing our systems to stringent standards ensuring that we are consistently shipping the highest quality products to our customers. Additionally you will ensure that we are able to meet the required throughput requirements of production. In this role you’ll need to think creatively and come up with solutions to solve difficult testing problems and push to continuously improve our methods of automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics. To ensure we are testing our systems sufficiently and efficiently you will define what needs to be tested by deriving test requirements, authoring the test plan, and then developing the tester itself. You will be expected to own building new test stations from the ground up starting with electrical/software/mechanical system design and proceeding through hardware development, validation, and system sustainment on the production line. The team spans multiple disciplines so development work can be shared, but every Manufacturing Test Engineer is expected to own a test capability end to end and to be hands-on in at least one of those core build disciplines.WHAT YOU'LL DOMaintain ownership of test activities in production and ensuring production test flow. Provide hands-on troubleshooting efforts and resolve complex electrical issues found during testingOwn the full test lifecycle for assigned products, from early test planning through tester development, deployment, validation, and long-term sustainment on the lineDefine what needs to be tested by deriving test requirements from system design, and collaborating with design engineers to refine test requirementsDevelop new test stations from the ground up including hands-on ownership of at least one core build discipline: test software, test electrical/instrumentation, or mechanical/fixture design, and integrate them into the production lineAuthor test plans, build/test sequences, and acceptance criteria for new and early-stage products, then carry them through to a released, sustainable production processMaintain test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream - from system level checkouts and acceptance testing to key component level in process validationImprove and sustain existing test systems to improve automation, consistency, total cycle time, and test coverage (DfM)Generate test work instructions that can be easily followed by technician team in MES. Train technicians on equipment use as requiredDevelop library of common failure modes with troubleshooting guide/diagrams for fast issue resolutionDetermine root cause of product failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions (RCCA)Work with Design, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to support customer returns and failure analysisContribute feedback to early-stage test design for test processes supporting early-stage products (NPI)Beyond contributing feedback, take ownership of the test approach for early-stage products, developing the test hardware and software required to verify themAnalyze test data, document results, and provide detailed reports to identify defects and areas for improvementCollaborate with design engineers to provide feedback and recommendations for product enhancements based on test outcomesOptimize test strategies for efficiency and effectiveness, reducing test time without compromising qualityMaintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure precision and reliabilitySupport continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes and methodologiesExecute testing as requiredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields8+ years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on manufacturing test and product sustainmentExperience must span test development, test requirements definition, test plan creation, and station/tester build, in addition to production test and sustainmentFamiliarity with Linux, Ubuntu, LabVIEW, and NixOSExperience with contract manufacturers in the testing of PCBA/electronic assemblies. Thorough knowledge of PCBA testing standards and methodsFamiliarity with electronics test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscope, function generators, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition and measurement sensorsStrong root cause analysis skills of non-conforming hardwareExcellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skillsFamiliar with Product Life Cycle (PLM) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Test Execution Systems (TES)Experience working on projects that involve the integration of electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware systemsDemonstrated ability to develop test systems from scratch, with hands-on competency in at least one core build discipline: test software development, test electrical/instrumentation design, or mechanical/fixture designExperience owning the full test development lifecycle, from test requirements definition and test plan creation, through station build and validation, to production sustainmentEligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPursuing a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related fieldFamiliarity with Python, LabVIEW, and/or MATLAB for data parsing and data visualizationExperience with test automation, PCBA design, and mechanical designExperience with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.Experience with ESS-related testing (Thermal, Vibration, etc.)Active Security ClearanceUS Salary Range$146,000—$194,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
