Electrical Commissioning Authority – Data Center/Mission Critical - Los Angeles The Opportunity: Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Authority to join our world‑class Data Center Commissioning Team. Position Summary: Commissioning is a quality assurance process that is invaluable to building and infrastructure owners, ensuring that systems and components are installed and operate as intended. This role will give you a chance to experience work both in the office and in the field with hands‑on testing of a range of systems improving building performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and occupant comfort. We have a dedicated team of over 30 full‑time commissioning staff working on world‑class projects, including LEED Cx, Title 24 Cx, retro‑commissioning, energy studies, measurement and verification, ongoing commissioning, etc. We work with our clients from design to move‑in and beyond, bringing together the owner, design team, contractors, and building operators to support and achieve the project goals. As an Electrical Data Center Commissioning Authority, you will lead and manage the commissioning process for assigned projects, including conducting field functional testing, creating checklists, documenting test results, and maintaining issue logs and reports. You will also participate in meetings, support project management tasks, follow internal procedures and industry standards, ensure safe work practices, and stay current through ongoing professional development. Essential Job Functions: Conduct field functional testing. Create pre‑functional and functional checklists. Lead commissioning meetings and manage the commissioning process for assigned projects. Perform field observations and document test results. Maintain issue resolution logs and compile commissioning reports. Assist with project management duties as needed. Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards. Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness. Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns. Additional duties as required. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or a related field, or industry commensurate experience. 8+ years of related industry experience and 2+ years of experience in data‑center commissioning, operations, or construction. ANSI/ISO Accreditation Cx Certification (BCxA CCP, ACG CxA, ASHRAE BCxP). Strong technical knowledge of data‑center electrical system design and operation, controls, and instrumentation. Project management expertise, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning. Exceptional client‑facing, client relationship, and client management skills. Ability to work autonomously and in team environments. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Office. Safety first mindset. Ability to climb ladders/stairs and lift/carry loads above 20 lbs. Ability to be on a job site for extended periods (8‑10 hours). Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 50 %. Valid driver’s license and insurance. Preferred Qualifications: Professional licensure (PE license, Energy Management, or TAB certifications) is a plus. Ability to manage QA/QC processes. Data center electrical systems commissioning experience. Utility and medium voltage electrical systems commissioning and/or testing experience. Infrared thermography certification. Experience with commissioning software or ongoing commissioning tools. Military Service Experience: Candidates with commensurate experience gained from military service will be considered and are highly encouraged to apply. Experience gained from military service maintaining, operating and/or testing nuclear power or other power systems, including power systems, battery systems, steam generation, hydroelectric plants, medium voltage distribution, and more. Experience gained in commissioning, testing, or quality assurance of medium voltage power systems that include power plants, solar, electric vehicle charging, critical power systems, and more. Work Environment and Location: This position requires regular travel to data center project sites, with 50‑70 % travel expected. Our hybrid work environment requires two in‑office and/or on‑site days per week. All candidates must be located in and eligible to work in the U.S. Compensation: Salary range: $110,000 – $200,000 (depending on experience). The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale for this role. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications.
