Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a company in Massillon, Ohio. This position is responsible for processing weekly and biweekly payroll and supporting a variety of payroll-related functions, including deductions, garnishments, taxes, payroll reporting, reconciliations, and employee payroll inquiries.

The ideal candidate will have recent hands-on payroll processing experience. Candidates with experience processing payroll for employee populations of 200+ are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly and biweekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Review, upload, verify, and process payroll files through UKG/UltiPro.
• Process W-4s, direct deposits, general deductions, 401(k) changes, local taxes, garnishments, and levies.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll issues.
• Serve as a liaison between HR representatives and UKG regarding payroll-related matters.
• Prepare manual check requests and pay card payments.
• Prepare and balance payroll spreadsheets on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
• Prepare biweekly general ledger download and upload files.
• Assist with quarterly multi-state payroll reporting and verify payroll system updates.
• Prepare monthly reports, including headcount, state deposit, COBRA credit, and U.S. Department of Labor reports.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with additional payroll projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of recent payroll processing experience.
• Experience with federal and state garnishments and levies.
• Working knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and federal guidelines.
• Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when working with payroll data.
