Mental Health Professional I - Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT)/ Orangeburg

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) – Office of Mental Health, Holly Hill Clinic, Orangeburg County 2319 St. Matthews Road Orangeburg SC 29118. Under general supervision, provides intensive home‑based, time‑limited services to families who are in crisis and at immediate risk of dissolution. Services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Provides treatment to clients and client's family using MDFT (Multi‑Dimensional Family Therapy) approach to treatment. Factors contributing to this crisis may include anti‑social behavior patterns, chronic marital problems, chronic parent‑child relationship issues, neglect and/or abuse problems. The primary goal is to keep families safe and intact. Responsibilities Provide assessments and ongoing clinical treatment to families assigned to Intensive Family Services (IFS) based on the nine principles of Multi‑Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT). Provide case coordination to assigned caseload. Maintain liaison with personnel from other agencies/resources in order to facilitate treatment of assigned cases (including DJJ). Collect, organize and record data and information for each client's medical record according to QA guidelines. Complete MDFT/IFS paperwork according to MDFT service requirements, i.e., treatment plan, participating in weekly MDFT group and phone consultation (as well as treatment team meetings as needed). MHP Student Loan Repayment This position may be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the applicable position. Qualifications Master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field. Eligibility for licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LISW‑CP. In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post‑graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume. Services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Need to be flexible and willing to adopt new therapeutic approach. Must be able to stand, walk, reach, pull, bend, climb stairs, move from one area to another and lift 20 lbs. Experience with treating individuals diagnosed with mental illness. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Post‑Hire Expectations Have practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods, and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders. Have the ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Have knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy. Have the ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives. Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines. Have the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports. Be provided routine supervision by supervisor, psychiatrist and monthly consultation groups. Employee's activities are governed by OAMHC and OMH policy and procedure. Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification. Position is essential and may be called back during crises, disasters, emergencies.
