Health Economics and Outcomes Summer Intern Remote Based in San Francisco, Arine is a rapidly growing healthcare technology and clinical services company with a mission to ensure individuals receive the safest and most effective treatments for their unique and evolving healthcare needs. By combining data science, machine learning, AI and deep clinical expertise, we provide a patient‑centric view to medication management and deliver personalized care plans at scale. Role Overview Join our Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team as a Summer Intern. This early‑career role is designed for graduate students, recent graduates, or those with equivalent experience who are passionate about using advanced statistical methods and AI tools to improve population health and reduce the total cost of care through medication optimization at health‑plan scale. What You’ll Be Doing Support causal analysis – design and conduct analyses using causal inference methods to evaluate program impact on medication adherence. Apply causal inference techniques – work with real‑world healthcare claims data, implementing methods such as propensity score matching, difference‑in‑differences, or regression discontinuity. AI‑augmented development – accelerate and improve the coding infrastructure for causal analysis by integrating agentic AI tools that help write SQL, Python, or R scripts. Collaborate with researchers and data scientists – further research projects and contribute to high‑quality deliverables. Who You Are Current graduate student or recent graduate in a Master’s or PhD program, or equivalent early‑career experience in Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics or a related quantitative field. Causal inference toolkit – practical experience with methods such as propensity score matching, difference‑in‑differences, regression discontinuity, etc. AI for coding proficiency – ability or strong interest in using AI tools to assist in writing SQL, Python, or R scripts. Self‑starter – comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. Nice to Have Experience with healthcare claims and administrative data. Machine‑learning causal inference experience (e.g., causal forests). Requirements Must live in and be eligible to work in the United States. Stable high‑speed internet connection and a private workspace that meets HIPAA compliance. Ability to pass a background check and complete Information Security/HIPAA training upon hire.
