Our very cool client is looking for an Interim Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations in Nashville , Tennessee, through a hands-on and detail-oriented approach. This is a Long-term Contract position for someone who can guide core financial activities while actively contributing to the work, especially in a fast-moving environment that requires structure, follow-through, and sound judgment. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across the full accounting cycle, especially within a Sage Intacct environment, can support an existing team, and is comfortable improving processes while maintaining steady operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and payment processing to ensure timely and accurate execution.

• Provide direct leadership and practical support to the AP and AR staff, helping the team stay productive while strengthening overall performance.

• Work through outstanding Sage Intacct items by reviewing incomplete records , resolving discrepancies, and restoring consistency in financial data.

• Manage month-end activities, including journal entries, general ledger updates, account reconciliations, and close support.

• Maintain continuity in departmental output by stepping into detailed tasks when needed rather than operating solely from a high-level management perspective.

• Establish organized, repeatable workflows in areas that lack documentation or clear procedures, with a focus on long-term efficiency and accountability.

• Monitor collections, billing accuracy, and payment runs to support healthy cash flow and dependable customer and vendor transactions.

• Reduce operational bottlenecks by identifying issues independently, prioritizing urgent needs, and keeping core accounting functions moving without constant oversight.

• Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting operations, including month-end close, journal entries, and general ledger activity.

• Direct leadership background in both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

• Strong hands-on experience with Sage Intacct in an operational accounting environment.

• Ability to work effectively in a backlog-heavy setting with limited documentation and evolving priorities.

• Solid background in account reconciliation, billing, collections, and payment processing.

• Experience supporting financial statement audits and maintaining accurate supporting records.

• Willingness to take a highly involved approach and personally handle detailed accounting work as needed.
