Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Through partnerships with businesses, community organizations, and government agencies, the Commission provides training, job placement, and business development opportunities to thousands of South Carolinians each year. Services are offered at offices located throughout the state to ensure convenient access for clients. The Commission accepts referrals from physicians, family members, community partners, and potential clients, and its services are provided at no cost. Role Description The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Conway, SC. This position works directly with blind and visually impaired clients to assess vocational interests, skills, and abilities, and to develop individualized employment plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting vocational evaluations, providing rehabilitation and career counseling, coordinating training and job readiness activities, and connecting clients with employment and business opportunities. The counselor manages a caseload, maintains accurate documentation and case records, and collaborates with internal teams and external partners such as employers, educators, and community organizations. The role also involves advocating for clients, monitoring progress toward goals, and ensuring services comply with agency policies and applicable regulations. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in vocational rehabilitation, including Vocational Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Counseling to support clients with visual impairments in achieving employment goals. Experience in vocational evaluation, including Vocational Evaluation and related assessment methods to identify client strengths, limitations, and suitable career paths. Competence in case management, including Case Management and service coordination to manage caseloads, track progress, and connect clients with resources. Strong capabilities in career counseling, including Career Counseling and guidance techniques to assist clients with career exploration, job search strategies, and workplace adjustment. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field; CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) or eligibility is preferred. Knowledge of disability-related laws and regulations (such as ADA and vocational rehabilitation guidelines) and familiarity with resources for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Effective communication, interviewing, and documentation skills, with the ability to build trust, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases, meet deadlines, and follow established procedures and reporting requirements. Basic computer proficiency, including use of case management systems and standard office software; willingness to learn adaptive technologies used by clients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
