The HR Business Partner – Employee Relations
serves as a liaison between the Human Resources department and employees. This role regularly conducts site visits to address employee concerns, provide feedback, and make recommendations to management, leadership, and executive teams. The HR Business Partner fosters a culture of fairness and accountability, supports a positive work environment, and assists in resolving issues between employees, supervisors, and leadership
Required Qualifications- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; minimum of three years of experience in a generalist role with a focus on employee relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in nonprofit healthcare preferred
- PHR, SPHR, or other HR certification preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Exceptional customer service skills, including active listening, problem-solving, and the ability to remain professional in high-pressure or sensitive situations
- Ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience with de-escalation techniques and the ability to train others
- Proficiency in HR systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics, including HIPAA compliance
- Adherence to workplace safety and infection control procedures
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Advise supervisors and managers on employee performance, conduct, and behavioral issues, including coaching strategies
- Partner with management to develop performance improvement plans and manage disciplinary processes
- Administer workers’ compensation processes, including documentation, follow-up on claims, risk identification, and coordination with insurance providers
- Manage leave of absence programs, including FMLA, PDL, CFRA, and employee accommodations
- Review terminations to ensure compliance with organizational policies and employment laws
- Process involuntary terminations
- Maintain knowledge of employment policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Conduct workplace investigations related to employee complaints
- Support internal audits related to employment practices and compliance
- Travel as needed to support operational and employee relations needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
